Drive Like 007 in Bond’s ’64 DB5

It’s the most famous movie car on the planet, an icon of masculine cool, and one of the most stylish set of wheels ever assembled – and it’s been sitting in some clown’s garage in Philadelphia for the past 41 years. James Bond’s Aston Martin, the exact 1964 DB5 used in Goldfinger and Thunderball, fitted out with all the coolest Q Branch gadgets, is being put up for sale for the first time in history. And if you’ve got at least $5 million burning a hole in your pocket you might have a shot at it during RM Auctions’ Automobiles of London sale in October, but we would not be surprised to see it bring in double that amount.

One of only two cars made for the 007 movies, this is the only surviving model. Collector Jerry Lee acquired it from Aston Martin in 1969. In case it’s been a while since you’ve seen the Sean Connery classics, here’s a refresher on the gadgetry ordered up by Oscar-award-winning special effects expert John Stears: machine guns, bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen, all controlled from factory installed toggles and switches hidden in the center arm-rest.

Help Me, Zonda: The New Brazilian Bombshell

Brazil’s Embraer builds some of the of the world’s finest private jets, so why shouldn’t the country get in on the high-end yachting market as well? Enter Zonda, the Brazilian answer to the likes of Riva and Frauscher. Focusing on clean, ultra-modern designs, Zonda applies elements such as power to weight ratio, aerodynamics and analysis techniques commonly used in the automobile industry to maximize its handsome crafts’ performance and fuel consumption. The Zonda 42 is its most impressive offering, with the ability to go from 0 to 20 knots in less than 9 seconds.

Brazilian businessman Eduardo Souza Ramos was inspired by Wally to create the company and commissioned the internationally renowned naval architect Acebal Javier Soto to realize his vision. The Zonda 42 is an evolution of a tender that Soto designed for King Juan Carlos of Spain. With sleek lines, a polished aluminum hull and teak decking we’d say the comely craft stands a good chance of bringing in some decent business. Throw in a couple bombshells in bikins and it’s a winning combination for sure.

German Newspaper Scores Sneak Peek Inside Abramovich's Eclipse

German newspaper Bild has scored an exclusive sneak peak inside Roman Abramovich's new 557-ft. Eclipse (above), the world's largest and most expensive privately owned yacht which was recently completed by Hamburg shipyard Blohm + Voss at a cost estimated to be near $1 billion. The gigayacht boasts every luxury finish imaginable in its nearly 20,000-sq-.ft. interior, including a master suite upholstered in shagreen (stingray skin) on the topmost sixth deck with a retractable moon roof. On Deck 4 there are two VIP suites and eight guest cabins, while accommodations for the 80 crew members needed to man the massive vessel are located in the bow. The décor however is fairly understated with earth tones predominating, we note. One of the three helicopter landing pads disappears under the deck with the push of a button, and the yacht also features the world's largest onboard swimming pool which converts into a dancefloor, in addition to a wellness center including a fitness studio, hairdresser, massage parlor, sauna, steambath and whirlpool. Bild notes the Eclipse will cost about $100,000 per day, or $36.5 million per year, to operate. Check out some exclusive interior images here.
